Dr. Michael Ryer grew up in Maryland and California. He earned his BA in Zoology from Humboldt State University, an MA in Biology from Bridgewater State University, and his DVM from Tufts University in 1993. Dr. Ryer has been on staff at the New England Animal Medical Center since 1994. His initial position was in the emergency and critical care department that has given him a broad knowledge of medical conditions. Since 2010 he has also been associated with our general practice. He has a special interest in avian, reptilian, and small mammal medicine. He is a former zookeeper, curator, and zoo veterinarian.
Outside of work he enjoys sailing, fishing, and re-enacting the Revolutionary War.
