Dr. Walters graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. She completed a small animal internship followed by a residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine at the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and received the Resident of the Year award in 1993. She initially remained on staff in the emergency service and intensive care unit following her residency. Dr. Walters completed her internal medicine board certification process in 1994 followed by certification in the emergency/critical care college in 1996. After leaving academia she worked at VCA South Shore Animal Hospital where she was director of the intern program and the emergency department. She then worked in the emergency/critical care and internal medicine departments of a specialty hospital in New Jersey for several years. Dr. Walters has been practicing at the New England Animal Medical Center in West Bridgewater since 2002 and is Chief of Staff of the Internal Medicine Service and the Emergency Service. Dr. Walters has published articles on hypoglycemia, management of the acute abdomen and feline emergency medicine. She is interested in all aspects of internal medicine. Her special interests include hematology, gastroenterology, nephrology, endocrinology and cardiology.
