| Veterinary Technician-
Animal Emergency & Critical Care Center |
| Join our experienced, professional, & dedicated team of
veterinary doctors & technicians caring for patients at our 24 hours
emergency animal hospital. Many of our patients are critically injured or
severely ill and require intensive around the clock medical and surgical
therapy. We work in a very busy, fast paced environment where
technicians are fully utilized. We also have a continuing education
program for technicians where doctors give lectures on various topics
2x/month. These lectures have been approved by the Mass State
licensing board to qualify for continuing educations credits required to
keep your CVT license current. Although experienced technicians with CVT
degrees are preferred, we are willing to train dedicated individuals
with limited experience who have a desire for learning, and a commitment to
work with critically ill & injured animals. Individuals must be
available for night, weekend, and some holiday shifts. |

| What do AECCC Technician do? |
|
- General nursing care & administer medical treatments for patients
- Place IV catheters- peripheral & central lines
- Draw blood samples- venous & arterial
- Blood pressure monitoring- doppler & Dinemapp
- Run ECGs
- Take & develop radiographs
- Monitor anesthesia
|
- Prep surgical patients & assist in surgery
- Run lab samples- blood, urine, stool
- Administer blood & plasma transfusions
- Nurse puppy & kitten neonates
- Assist doctors with examinations & procedures
- Triage incoming patients & field phone calls
- Reception duties, phones, admit, discharge pets

- New technicians will be trained by our 2 head nurses who are both
certified Veterinary Technician Specialists in Emergency and
Critical Care (AVECCT)
- Three of our nurses run the in house feline & canine blood bank
- 12 of our nearly 30 FT & PT technicians have CVT degrees

| Veterinary Technician,
Reception, & Kennel Staff -
Westbridge Veterinary Hospital |
| Westbridge Veterinary Hospital is a full
service general care practice. We are able to practice high quality medicine
and surgery due to our extensive in house facilities including complete
diagnostic lab, radiology, surgery with bone plating, pinning, and external
skeletal fixating equipment, surgical laser, dental equipment, extensive
pharmacy, in house blood bank, and a wide range of monitoring equipment. We
are open Monday through Fridays 8am-6pm, and Saturday 8am-12pm during the
year with some night time clinics added during the busy seasons. We also
have 3 doctors who practice acupuncture and complementary medicine
concurrently with traditional Western medicine. We anticipate that
this arm of the practice will be growing in the future. We also have a continuing education
program for technicians where doctors give lectures on various topics
2x/month. These lectures have been approved by the Mass State
licensing board to qualify for continuing educations credits required to
keep your CVT license current. |
| General Duties
of Westbridge Technicians |
- Draw blood samples
- Take & develop radiographs (x-rays)
- Assist with ultrasounds and echocardiograms
- Assist with ECGs, blood pressures
- Put up/dispense medication
- Suture & drain removals
- Give injections
- Wrap surgical kits, gowns, drapes
- Assist surgical technician if needed

- Call pet & Client into exam room
- Prepare any vaccines, dewormer etc.
- Take brief history
- Weigh and temp patient
- Restrain pet & assist doctor when necessary
- Pedicures
- Restock exam rooms & drawers
- Set-up fecal & urine samples
- Assist reception staff if needed
|
| Hours would be between 8:00a- 6:00p, weekdays
and may include some Saturdays from 8:00a-12:00p and/or a weeknight. |
| General Duties
of Westbridge Receptionists |
- Greet clients, check in patients for appointments
- Answer phones, take histories, triage if necessary over phone
- Make appointments for clients and referral cases
- Make or return phone calls to clients
- Make up new records, update & file completed record
- File lab sheets and rabies certificates
- Maintain paper work for referred patients
- Admitting & discharging referrals

- Make up discharge medications
- Discharge clients, go over discharge instructions, take payments
- Pull records for next day, and call to confirm appointments
- Keep reception area clean and neat
- Close down at the end of the day and back up computers
- Assist doctors and technicians if required
- Assist with training new personnel

and may include some Saturdays from 8:00a-12:00p and/or a weeknight. |
| General Duties
of Westbridge Kennel Technicians |
- Monitor all the animals in the hospital
- Clean cages, change litter boxes, & walk dogs
- Feed and water animals in hospital
- Wash, dry & fold laundry
- Sweep & mop hospital including halls, wards, reception etc.

- Empty trash cans, refill paper towel dispensers
- Clean & stock exam rooms, wash exam tables with disinfectants
- Clean walls, bathrooms, windows etc.
- Take pets to & from owners
- Bring pet food to reception desk for clients
|
| Hours: Shifts are either 7:30a-3:00p or
2:30p-6:00p weekdays, may include Saturdays 7:30a-1:00p. |

- We have 3 full-time & 3 part-time doctors on staff
- 5 out of our 6 full time technicians have CVT degrees
- The majority of our staff has been working at Westbridge for
more than 5 years
